These shears are made in Seki City, Gifu Prefecture, the city of cutlery. The handle is coated with lacquer by a lacquer artisan of Buddhist altar arts in Aichi Prefecture, creating a lacquered scissors with a noble luster.
Shunuri is a rich red color produced by applying layers of vermilion lacquer.
The layers of lacquer bring out a translucent luster and depth. Beautiful luster and tasteful shine will appear as the years go by, and the smooth texture unique to lacquer will fit comfortably in your hand.
The light and stable cutting edge is made of durable and rust-resistant Japanese stainless steel.

Handling Precautions

Forcing the blades to cut hard or thick object will result in losing blade engagement and damage to the blades.

Do not store scissors in direct sunlight or in high temperatures and humidity to prevent rusting of the scissors and discolouration of the lacquer.
Lacquer coatings are very delicate.
Do not use hard cloths or abrasives for cleaning as they scratch the surface.
After use, wipe with the cloth provided and store in the sheath.
The sheath is made of genuine leather and therefore may stretch or shrink a little.
Wetting with water or sweat may cause color fading or stains.
There may be a rare case of lacquer rash depending on user's physical constitution.
If you experience any abnormality, discontinue use and consult a physician.
