Guidance for Scouring

The past couple of months we have had an increase of wool washing.  So far in 2026 we have washed 104kgs. This is the main basis of the business as we offer 2 forms of scouring:
 

                   - Circular scouring where wool is processed using less water, energy and chemicals takes around 6                         weeks to wash
                   - Reduction of resources, still no chemicals used, yet does An increase of scouring (washing wool)                           requests has led to this list of tips to ensure the wool be scoured/washed well: 

          Some tips to ensure your wool will be scoured well:

                 1. Ensure your wool is dry during shearing.
                 2. The wool is not older than 5 months old
                 3. Been stored in a dry location and not in a plastic garbage bag

                 4. Is moth, mice, parasite free and felt free.

                 5. Helpful to 6. What the end use or application is for the wool 
                 7. Do you need the wool to be carded? or felted?

Questions, News and tips

As  from 01/03/2026 the cost of Gas and Electricity has increased thus increasing our scouring and drying costs  by 2.50 per kilo. 

If your fleeces have become felted, we will not be able to scour the wool.  All waste will be charged at 2,50 per kilo and will be returned to you for you to dispose. 

 

If you do not wish for the waste being returned, then please contact us prior to scouring your wool.
