A MODERN WOOL ATELIER

Located in the historic city of Mechelen, the atelier, shop and THE WOOLLY LAB are steeped in the traditions of Belgium with local wool and textile industries. Yet we do not just focus solely on the fashion or textile sector.  The atelier space is over 200m2, with dedicated areas for sorting, scouring, felting, carding, and workshops.

The atelier also houses several laboratory spaces. These are for developing new processing techniques, new product development, mock-ups for interior, agriculture, building, medical, other sustainable products and natural dyeing.  We are regularly developing opportunities for people to come and learn about wool and its wider use, whilst providing a space to physically create concepts or mock up their idea/product.

We charge a fair price for the use of our machinery and facilities so that our services are accessible to everyone, individuals, students and businesses.

In house we have: 
- Needle Felting machine with over 280 industrial felting needles
- Rolling machine for wet felting projects 

- 2 e-carding machines for both white and brown fibers
- 1 hand carding machine for hemp fiber use 

- 2 Lojan Spinning wheels 

- 1 Ashford e-spinning machine 

- Multiple weaving looms of varying sizes and shafts and others...
